NAXOS
Authentic Beauty Beyond Expectations
Naxos combines endless sandy beaches with mountain villages and rich traditions. Known for its warm hospitality and exceptional local cuisine, it offers a more authentic and relaxed Cycladic experience.
EXPLORE NAXOS
Naxos is one of those Greek islands that becomes more interesting the longer you stay. At first, it is the beaches that capture your attention: kilometres of pale sand, turquoise water and some of the most beautiful swimming conditions in the Cyclades. But drive inland and the island changes completely. You will find fertile valleys, olive groves, vineyards, marble villages, Byzantine churches, mountain tavernas and Mount Zas – the highest mountain in the Cyclades. This combination is exactly why we love Naxos at Yamas. It offers the beauty of the Cyclades without relying entirely on tourism. Agriculture is still part of everyday life, villages remain genuinely inhabited, restaurants cook with ingredients produced only a few kilometres away, and there is enough variety to build a holiday around far more than the beach. For families, couples and groups who want beautiful villas, excellent food, long sandy beaches and plenty to explore, Naxos is one of the most complete islands in Greece.

Food – One of the Best Reasons to Choose Naxos
Naxos is not an island where food has to arrive by ferry every morning.
Its fertile plains, mountains and agricultural traditions produce an extraordinary range of ingredients.
The famous Naxos potato has PDO status.
So does Graviera Naxou, one of Greece’s great cheeses.
You should also try arseniko, xinotyro and other local cheeses.
Traditional dishes include rosto, slow-cooked pork; goat and lamb dishes; local sausages; vegetables grown on the island and excellent meat from mountain farms.
This abundance is why Naxos is one of our favourite Greek islands for food.

Restaurants &Tavernas Worth Knowing
Barozzi
For guests looking for something more refined, Barozzi offers a contemporary approach to Greek ingredients and is a good choice for a special dinner in Chora.
Our recommendation on Naxos, however, is not to eat every evening in sophisticated restaurants. Some of the best meals happen in mountain villages where the menu is short, the meat comes from nearby farms and the cheese was produced only a few kilometres away.

Nightlife
Naxos is lively without feeling like a party island.
Chora is the centre of evening life.
Start with dinner in the Old Town, continue to a cocktail bar around the harbour or Kastro and stay as late as you like.
Agia Anna and Plaka offer more relaxed summer evenings with beach bars and restaurants close to the sand.
This balance is another reason Naxos works so well for mixed groups: younger guests can go out while families and couples can have a completely different type of evening.
